Thinking of getting the Klim Carlsbad v3 or v4 jacket BUT all the reviews and videos are looking at it as a jacket for mostly off-road riding. My ride is Multi V4S that has never been off road apart from the potholes . So is this jacket not suitable for my type of riding and will be out of place for my weekly sporting blasts and a few days of touring. So what's your opinion. Recommended or is a no-no...
Not sure where you are looking but I've found several reviews that look at the Carlsbad as an all round touring jacket. Waterproof, vents and a huge choice of pockets. 2 layer laminate which makes the garment more flexible than the Badlands which is a 3 layer laminate so easier to wear Looks like an awesome textile jacket. Infinity appear to be doing £150 off at the moment. Andy
I’ve got the Carlsbad jacket. It’s brilliant. Completely waterproof (as long as you make sure all zips are fastened fully!) and great in warm weather too. I rarely wear anything else. Only downside is there is no thermal liner, so I bought a Revit standalone thermal liner for £50.
@Android853sp - you are right. I guess seeing some of the videos showing the jacket off-road locations got me thinking about it. Also, most of the colours are more adventure and off road riding. Still like it, the V4 in black looks even better and now I am more inclined towards it than then Alpinestars St-7. I wonder how many Multi owners have a klim jacket or will I be the first and only one ...
They just like to please the "off road" adv. rider audience. (I would guess 90% of adv. bikes never see a byway) I had Carlsbad and now Kodiak. Absolutely fine on adv. bike sitting position.
Have a watch of the videos on Motoledgends gends website, he does a good job at breaking down all the Klim range with positives and negatives.
I bought my Klim suit and summer jacket from Rugged Roads in the New Forest, great gear and service. I’d go and try if you can, Klim is more generously sized than some other brands.
I've got one. Good for Hot and Cold weather. Was waterproof on my trip to Scotland last year with torrential rain both to ad from. Jacket is very square cut. Comes up larger than the sizing chart but there's plenty of room for thermal liners/heated jacket etc.
