I woke up thinking it must be near half seven - when my alarm goes off - and it was just gone four. So I was awake most of the rest of the night reading. When I finally dropped off again I dreamt an acquaintance told me he'd been asked to look for Diane Paraffin. I quipped "Do you think she'll be ennobled and become Dame Kerosene?" I typed Diane Paraffin into DDG and hit enter, but instead a police panel materialised in the high street. Like Crimewatch without a studio. They began explaining how to ascertain that a person is actually missing. Then I woke up. I had just read an essay by Albert Hofmann in which he mentioned alkyls or allyls. I don't think he mentioned alkanes. Why the hell this keyboard thinks I more likely mean 'Sloanes' is anyone's guess. The suggestions have been equally ridiculous for months now. How much that they've got AI doing it?
The only Diane I recall ever knowing was the common law wife of a guy I nearly murdered 30 years ago. Her part was peripheral. Though I've been watching Cheers; though it's a while since I saw the Diane Chambers ones. No, Google Keyboard: not Duane Chambers.
