  1. I really need to line the inside of the 916 tank. It's an early unlined tank, 1995, and it's starting to rust around the flange plate hole, inside.
Obviously, I need to block the hole underneath the tank and am thinking that the easiest way to do this will be to locate, if I can, an old, damaged or rusty fuel pump/flange plate for the purpose. To fabricate something to fit adequately will be problematic (for me!) because of the rebate on the tank, which'll need to be kept free of sealant. A round plate would be easy enough to seal; it's the rebate which is the problem.
I've used Redcote sealant quite successfully in the past and more recently, POR 15. The job's quite easy once the paintwork's protected and all exits plugged.
So does anyone please have a scrap flange plate I might buy? Those on eBay tend to have pumps, filters and thermistors etc fitted and cost the earth! I'm thinking that once I've done mine I'll happily pass it on to whoever else is doing this job as it'll then be useless anymore for using with a fuel pump etc.
    Cheers.

  4. All sorted now, thanks to VtwinDave. Cheers mate!
I'll clean and reline the tank later this year then offer the plate for loan on here to anyone who wants to do the same.
