  3. Dropped in on my 996 riding best mate yesterday. He's prepping for the Hill Climb season and new noise regs have made him creative... I recognise those

I walked past this yesterday and spotted a familiar name on the board.

  10. A little slow this morning as I first thought it was the elder, but no can't be, he died in 2012. Then thought perhaps an offspring, but they're not old enough and besides they all have rather silly names (Anslem, Peter Theodore Alphege...)

So just another branch of the sprawling aristo family tree then? And a quick google shows him to be a nephew of his more illustrious namesake.

  11. Towards the end of his career (and life), William Rees Mogg QC (as he then was) of “Who Breaks a Butterfly On A Wheel” fame used to sit as a legal adviser to the tribunals in Nursing and Midwifery Council disciplinary hearings. One of my colleagues appeared in one such hearing defending a nurse who had allegedly stolen money from a patient under her care, in which, when making his closing submissions, he gave a little speech about the difference between dishonesty and mere carelessness. For some reason he chose to use the then fairly recent MP’s expenses scandal as an example, and specifically, the case of an MP who made a £300k profit on a flat where the mortgage had been paid from the public purse. That MP? One Jacob Rees-Mogg.

  12. Absolutely not, I suspect the Mail would use tinny words like 'Egghead' or 'Brainbox'.

Boffin, on the other hand, far too woody for a tabloid.

  19. Used to run open pipes, then had to have removable silencer to get to the start line. More recently there's a db limit. Not sure on full details or time-line, varies depending on location too.
