999 Anyone Fitted A 55 Profile Rear Tyre Compared To Standard 50?

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by The Royal Maharaja, May 10, 2026.

  1. Need a rear boot for my 999, my prefered Michelin power 3 is becoming unavailable...and it seems the majority of power 5s and 6s are 190/55 as opposed to standard 190/50...

Anyone using a 55 profile? All OK? Hugger problems?

    Cheers.

  2. Haven't done it on a Ducati, but always changed to a 55 profile tyre on GSXR1000's they came on 50's, the 55 is a much nicer rounded tyre IMO, and they look better.

  4. Rolling radius will be bigger which is likely to make your speedo inaccurate and yes, rub your hugger. Andy

  5. I have fitted 180/60 profile to my 749 instead of 180/55 original profile due to difficulty getting the older profile.
Height of a 180/60 is ~108mm - I had no issues with clearance.
For your 190/55, the height would be ~104.5mm so I would expect that it would be fine.
