  1. Hey chaps, I’ve recently upgraded my battery to a smaller agm one but now need an extended clamp. These have been notoriously hard to track down so asking if anyone else has any ideas to an alternative option? I’ve attached a photo of the clamp that i’m ideally looking for,

    cheers

  2. I made one out of aluminium plate and utilised the original to hold it.
To stop the new adapter moving I used the mega strong type 3M double sided tape between the aluminium and the battery. See pics, took about 20 minutes to make!

  3. Similarly, I fitted a Motobatt battery which is slightly bigger, I made a new clamp from a small sheet of stainless steel that I had lying around.

Also needed to remove the rubber pad from the base of the tray to get it to fit.

  4. I used one of these battery brackets for my 748R when I moved to a smaller battery. It lifted the battery up to exactly where it needed to be

  5. Should be available from your dealer. Try Moto Rapido, best parts department in the network. Craig or Luke

  6. Without the rubber pad, the life of the battery will be shortened.

  7. I still have a rubber pad under it, cut from some anti-slip stuff for toolbox drawers. Just that the original has moulded, raised ridges around the edge that wouldn't fit around the Motobatt, being just that little bit bigger.

Plus, it has been on it since 2012 so I've no complaints about battery life.

  8. As above with some high density foam strip under the tab.

  9. You can usually find the whole battery box complete with clamp on ebay for less than a clamp from the dealer, even if they had one. Also other bikes of the same era (ST2/4 etc) use the same clamp.
