Interesting guy. Big time sailor winning the Americas Cup, invented endless 24/7 news, gave a billion dollars to create a UN Foundation and much more. RIP
An interesting guy; he starred in On Any Sunday with Steve McQueen, went into designing motorcycle frames after an inner ear issue ended his racing career, then went into mountain bike design, introducing suspension to mountain bikes and also ran a not-for-profit providing prosthetic hands for amputees enabling them to ride bicycles or motorcycles again. A life well lived. RIP Mert.
Dennis Locorriere, lead singer with Dr.Hook dies aged 76. They were a great band, especially during the 70s , and his solo work and song writing were pretty good too.
I saw him play for Scotland at Murrayfield many times and, when an important tackle had to be made, he was always the man who seemed to be in exactly the right place to make it. A fantastic player, a true gentleman off the pitch and a great ambassador for the sport of rugby. He will be sorely missed.
My friend and neighbour Peter who pasted away this morning at 63, after retiring at 61 and after 4 months got cancer, life can be very rough at times.
That is terrible Paul, life doesn't ever have to be fair does it.. How does that song go? "Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think". RIP Peter
Even though I didn't know Peter, this news is sadder to hear than all the other postings about celebrities passing. It's real world, can happen to any of us. RIP Peter.
Your friend Peter's story is sadly too common, and the same as my father's who died at 58, 2 years after being given the oppertunity to take redundancy and retire early. Life sucks at times, and I feel your pain.
Im sorry to hear this My ex FIL passed away with cancer two years after retiring at 67 if we do anything for them it's live the life they didn't get to see
