Paddington is OK by me. I get a buggy ride to the taxi rank and go straight to the first taxi, as the buggy driver cannot wait in the queue. The underground is good when I am not traveling to or from the hotel with a rucksack. I just find it funny, the impatience of Londoners. Where I live, there's one train per hour, whereas trains on the underground are about one a minute apart, but Londoners are still impatient, trying to force open the doors, or pushing through the turnstiles after scanning their card, as their will be a one second delay between the train stopping and the doors opening,, or the card being read and the gates opening. The place is Heartattack City! I want to grab them, and tell them to calm-the-fuck down! One lousy minute is not going to ruin their life! Strange breed, Londoners.
Went to see 'Michael' at the cinema just down the road. I know all the history, but film OK, anyway. And good if you are in Paignton with nothing to do. It's twelve degree c here, so colder than home. Fortunately, Berkeley doesn't get invaded by Northerners every year, who really play up the Northerner thing, with the flat cap and the "ee by gum, ti's reet warm ere!" They never go in the sea for a swim, so are taking the piss, clearly. Off home tomorrow, thank goodness! Itannoyed me at first, but doesn't now, as they are just taking the Michael and I just saw the film!
Home now. Once again, I de-trained at Taunton to leave the crappy Crosscountry Northerner Wagon. I just could not stand it. Everyone ha so much shit, spread everywhere that you can't move. I think we were down to two carriages this time, but it is meant to be five, which is just openly taking the piss. And everyone had hats on! You don't need to be wearing a fecking hat on a train! Waited for a train to Cardiff and changed at Bristol Temple Meads for my local train. Unfortunately, I go to Spain via Plymouth in a few weeks and that will be the same shit, but I will be prepared to only take GWR trains, no matter the wait. I did take a steam train that was constructed in Swindon (where I went to college) in 1951. I wasn't born then but it is closer than I would like! But Swindon kept on making steam engines until 1960, I think. The Paignton to Kingswear line on a steam train is good. And they throw in a ferry ticket over to Dartmouth. There was a music festival going on and most of the pubs had live bands. Really good and I discovered a new beer that I like! I took pictures on my phone but the focus is wank. I cannot blame the phone (although I would like to!) because it ts probably me!
