HAS anyone purchased tyres from ITALY recently that are valued at £135 or more. i am just wondering how much the customs tax will be on the transaction. found some cheap pirelli,s but the charge might be the spoiler.
An article by our forum tyre specialist, https://twotyres.co.uk/buying-motorcycle-tyres-eu/. A quick AI question comes back with 4% to 4.5% duty plus VAT on the total price including delivery. Andy
Figure it on being total cost inc shipping +30% . Seems to be about that ime. Though some courier services may want to add an additional handling charge for customs overheads.
Shouldn't be any duty on EU made goods though, on top of the VAT there maybe a disbursement fee, the amount of which which depends on the courier. Note, the seller should sell it to you without domestic VAT.
I know everyone is different but I’d pay £50 more to buy locally and avoid all the import shite. Plus easier to take back too….
I just have for a helmet, it was cheaper on fcmoto but can't be doing with all that. It becomes way too difficult.
My Pirelli tyres are made in China! That changes everything. They may be sent from Italy but if they are made outside of the EU tariffs may apply on top of VAT and Courier/Custom fees.
anytime i order anything in from overseas....as soon as you go over 100quid factor in another 30% at least... I ordered 400quids worth of Rectifiers from Ultimate and got stung for 120quid tax.
Sometimes they charge extra others not, I recently ordered a radiator for my Land Rover from a company in the Czech republic. Cost just under £200, no VAT or taxes and delivered by courier with no extra charges from them. I've had the same at work, seems to depend on the courier. My main supplier (Italy) mostly use UPS and they always charge a handling fee + VAT, occasionally they've used Fedex who've never charged me anything and I doubt the supplier is paying the charges without telling/charging me?
