That's the SP version. The based model I rode definitely didn't have a gauge showing in the top left corner. Surely if the SP has one the base must as well? I guess you've got to fiddle with the display settings to bring it up. Which reminds me.. The only other very minor niggle I can think of is that the left hand switch gear cluster is cluttered with very small buttons, which I found tricky with my shovel hands. A split second's hesitancy off a closed throttle and small buttons on the handlebars. That's it. If it has got a fuel gauge then I can't think of any other drawbacks. Not bad. If I found 14 grand down the back of the sofa - or better still 17K for the SP - I'd definitely buy one.
I think its switchable between a gauge and a low warning light in the settings from reading the manual.
Yes - rand 2 dealers Thursday and had pricing - one had stock - cancelled order (Standard not SP) I will take delivery and get the low suspension and seat at first service... (I am Short)... So first 600 miles will be a challenge. I hope they can do the Cruise and Heated Grips now before delivery - but not a problem either way.. Will let you know how it goes... Just ordered the Crash Bungs and Rad Guard from Evotech...
Interesting that they can lower it at short notice other than the seat. I'd assume shorter forks, etc...
No - parts for Seat or Suspension are a few weeks - so will be done at first service Suspension is shorter springs (front and back (15mm) and shorter side stand.
I'm replying before having watched the vid. Chris Northover's enthusiasm for motards is well known, as are his riding skills, so I think I know what he's going to get up to on the V2 and what he'll make of it. I shall watch it now, though I fear it's going to make me desperate to spend 17 grand that I haven't got...
I’m very keen to know what the low speed fuelling is like, out of the box. My RS is a truly epic machine, but I’m struggling with the low speed fuelling, despite having a BHP remap. To the point where I’d seriously consider getting rid of it, for a Hyper SP. IF the fuelling is spot on.
The base version I rode had a very slight hesitancy when opening the throttle off tickover. It wasn't snatchy or jerky, there was just this millisecond delay between throttle closed and throttle open and the revs climbing. It felt more of a quirk than a defect and didn't affect slow speed manoeuvres in any way because the revs are already above that point when you start slipping in the clutch. On the move it was completely unnoticeable and the fueling felt silky smooth. I did have it in Race mode the whole time so whether it happens in the other modes as well I don't know. It wouldn't stop me buying one.
When I got my 939 Hyper, the ride-by-wire twistgrip was the thing that took a while to get used to. I still don't like it- just had to get used to it..
I felt that the woolly on/off throttle on the V2 was something I'd just get used to. In fact I pretty much had by the end of the test ride because when I got back on the Diavel its throttle felt sharp. And mine has the throttle spacer fitted so doesn't have that trademark 1260 slack-cable feel which makes them snatchy. Haven't ridden the 939 so don't know what that's like, but no one on the V2 review vids I've watched seems to mention the throttle response so I'm guessing it compares favourably to the 939. I ridden other bikes (KTMs and Yam MTs) and thought, great bike but I'd have to get that throttle remapped. I didn't feel that was necessary with the V2. I'm sure you'd just adapt and stop noticing it.
well mate loves it - but only done a 100 miles on it so far. interesting point about your hatred of the fuelling Rich. so subjective; doesn't really bother me - and mine is stock. and a hyper would be great for hooning around but how would you go off on your touring jaunts?
