Had a lovely day in the sunshiiiiiiiine. In fact it was too hot mid afternoon. Tomorrow we are going to Cragside near Rothbury. Cragside is famous as the first house in the world to be illuminated by hydroelectricity and is celebrated as a pioneer of "smart home" technology. Key Highlights Pioneering Engineering: Powered entirely by the surrounding landscape, the estate used a system of dams and lakes to generate electricity. It was packed with futuristic gadgets, including a hydraulic lift, early dishwashers, electric gongs, and a water-powered roasting spit. The Estate: Carved out of rugged moorland, the grounds feature a 6-mile Carriage Drive, one of the largest rock gardens in Europe, and a towering Pinetum (a collection of conifer trees). Film Location: The striking architecture served as the filming location for Lockwood Manor in the movie Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. National Trust Ownership: Today, the property is managed by the National Trust. You can explore the mansion, tour the Powerhouse, and walk the surrounding woodland trails.
Today I visited Baron ( aka Dick Smith) at his workshop near Hooe in Sussex. He kindly alloy-welded a broken fin onto a Guzzi cylinder head for me. Not many guys left who work to that standard. I got him to tell me about the time when he took a bike to Bonneville Utah, and ran it on the salt flats. He wants to go again.
Having dropped the pups off at Doggy Day Care for the afternoon we are apparently going to see an olde worlde sweet emporium Doris has discovered called Mr Swainstons in South Shields https://www.mrswainstons.com/
Had a screening for Aorta Valve Aneurysm. It took five minutes, start to finish, and is a simple ultra scan. There are four outcomes: 1. Aorta measures under 30mm and you are free & clear 2. Slightly swollen = 30mm- 44mm / yearly scan 3. Medium swollen = 45mm - 54mm / monthly scan 4. Very swollen = fast track treatment, 55mm plus usually an operation within 14 days... I'd never really heard of this condition, so I wasn't really too bothered when the letter arrived. Fortunately it was a slow, rainy day so I looked it up on the NHS site. Key points are that 1 in 92 men who are 65+, have Aorta valve problems. Approximately 85 out of 100 men die if their Aorta Aneurysm bursts So its quick and easy, and it might save you life. Get it done boys! Happily mine was only 13mm so all good.
I got a letter through the post, seems that this is another NHS screening for ailments that might save lives. Hopefully this will roll out everywhere.
No, its a standard Dear John letter and the waiting room had guys who simply came as a result recieving it.
I finally managed to attach rear twin coil to air filter body in repose. Note to Ducati "assemblers" please remember to orientate fuel line (single) crimp facing forward on rear cylinder injector.
