What’s that big hole on the side for? Surely that can’t be the air intake!?

 

I’d guess it’s to allow the air flowing through the radiator somewhere to escape.

 

Or simply CRAP styling?

 

Excellent. So you get a load of heated air in the face as you’re crossing the Rub Al Khali (or on your way to Aldi)!

 

If your face is in front of that then you have bigger problems happening

 

It looks like the back of the fan is in there so must be a vent for it but yes the styling is very German, I actually saw one the other day for the first time and they don’t look as bad in the flesh.

I think that box like attachment is the autobahn cannon option, you can see the black barrel protruding from the front, so the big hole must be where the spent cartridge casings are ejected.
