1260 Gps Signal

  1. Can anyone help with a strange problem?
I Have a Garmin GPS which is old but Garmin 2026 maps still available, it navigated my 1260 (poor mans edition) around UK and Europe for 7 years faultlessly, i part exchange my bike for a 1260 Enduro at the end of last year and spent the winter accessorizing it.
Now taking the bike on the first rides the Sat Nav signal is being blocked by something on the bike,
The Sat Nav works fine in the car, work vehicle and my Triumph but even after getting a full GPS signal and putting it in the cradle as soon as i turn the dash on the signal drops until there is no gps signal? as soon as i turn the dash off after a short while the signal comes back?
As the bike has blue tooth connectivity and my old 1260 didn't i assumed the problem was the blue tooth module, i removed the module but still no signal.
    Can anyone help...

  2. Can you make sure the bike isn’t trying to connect to the gps? Just have the gps as a standalone , maybe remove the Ducati app from your phone (if you have it) or reset the gps unit back to factory settings?

  3. Try putting your phone in the same location and running mapping (Google Maps). Does the phone get a GPS fix?
Initial thoughts are there is some type of emi from the dash blocking the Garmin. Try moving the Garmin away from the dash until you get satellite lock.
Does it do this when the Garmin is on battery power only? If it works it would suggest the interference is from the power supply.

Do you live near anything run by the Russians? Do you work for HM Government? Targeted GPS blocking!!!! :p:p

  4. It's not something silly such as the bike being under a tree or even in the garage when you're trying to get signal?

  5. Do you have a tinted screen ? AI has come back with the suggestion that some tints are made using metal oxides which, if your sat nav is mounted under the screen, can block the GPS signal. Andy

  6. The gps is a standalone, no i don't have Ducati app, have tried going back to factory settings....but thanks for the suggestions.

  7. Good suggestions will try all when it stops raining here..

  8. I do have a smoke touring screen, but it worked with my full black screen on my previous 1260 but will remove the screen and try, as the thread states the gps only loses signal when i turn the ignition on and regains when i turn it off.

May have to just buy a new sat-nav but can't understand whats going on?
The bike is new to me but does a tracker give off a signal when the ignition is off?
Never had a tracker but could this interfere with a gps signal?
