A chap I know at the marina asked if I wanted to go for a ride out today and he wanted me to lead so 225 miles around Wales later and he has gone in the marina bar to recover . He said he thought it would be about a 100 miler….. light weight
If he's not used to those distances he'll be hurting some. Lot of bikers I know only ride maybe 100 mile a Month. I usually go out for the day 200 mile plus. Longest distance I've ridden in one go is around 1200 miles on a T3 Triumph Speed Triple, a spur of the moment decision. It was a tank full of fuel every 90 miles give or take. I was however much younger so didn't really suffer that much.
2nd day of a three day trip around the Mt. Ventoux region of France. Had such a great, great day, some of the roads here are just A1 for surface, outlook, visibility....and the aches of yesterday seemed to have dissipated a small amount. Plus...
I was just saying today, that 200 miles is just a normal day on the bike for me. I don’t see the point in just popping out for an hour or two.
Yep he’s just not bike fit, he kept on saying his arse was hurting on the way back. I told him not to say that to anyone in the pub else they might think it was another sort of ride.
Agree. I sometimes do a “quick sprint” which is a 100+ miles but all my rides are normally around 180-260 . He also asked about touring Wales on a long weekend, I said no need you can do it in a day if you get up early!
We had a newbie with us yesterday, he's been riding for 2 years but usually less than 10 miles commuting on his Z650. We did about 170 miles (210 for me) around North Yorkshire at speeds approaching the legal limit... My Enduro got 58mpg. Imagine how long the tyres would last if we rode like that all the time...
Over the course of the weekend, i have been doing bits to the Superdream, Saturday was mostly spent chasing random electrical issues on the back end, first thought the brake lights weren't working, but, it turned out the brake light was stuck on, and it was the tail light jit working Upon closer inspection, the brakelight switch on the rear brake pedal was incorrectly set, causing the light to be on all the time, adjusted so it went off, then the damned thing wouldn't work at all The nearside rear indicator was having its moments, deciding if it was goingbto work or not, found to be a loose wire in one if the connectors, that job sorted The tail light, spent ages trying to sort that, did continuity checks on the loom from the fuse to the last connection before the bulb holder, all good, tested voltage, all good Removed the bulb holder from the light unit, cleaned all the terminals, replaced it, all working again Finished off yesterday by removing the clutch and front brake levers, cleaning tgemnuo with a paint removal disc on the grinder, then giving them a coat of primer, and a few coats of gloss black paint Refitted the levers this morning after doing a couple of little jobs on a mates MG TF
jack shit. nada. F.All. you would think suppliers would know how much any one company spends with them and for how long before they blurt out some excuse for parts not arriving. one simply does not say (after some frantic keyboard punching going on in the background) another couple of days. the exact same time i was told when originally ordered. ie, they forgot to order it. last week it was eh...ummmm..... hmmm... delayed because of the bank holiday. i could feel the burn down the phone when he was reminded that it was ordered on a Wednesday. staff. you canny get em.
