My wife is doing a 100 mile ultra marathon at the weekend that ends in Eastbourne and she has asked me to go and see her cross the finish line. I’m going down on my bike but I’ve never been there before, is it fairly safe to leave my bike parked up and are there any of those noise camera things in that area? I never usually let my bike out of my sight so I’m not looking forward to it. cheers Chris.
Very safe there in comparison to most places. No noise cameras I know of. Take in the Beachy Head Road while there. Lots of bikes. Great roads in Sussex. Enjoy and don’t worry
Chapeau to your Wife, I used to drop a mate off for his training runs for ultras or drive down in a van or sometimes drop his van off in a location and cycle home.
How the blue blazes can someone run 100 miles? That's seriously impressive. How old is she, if you don't mind me asking?
She’s 46 and done a few 40,50 and 60 milers but this is her first big one. I think she is totally bonkers by the way but it makes her happy and I get to ride bikes.
Given the average age of bikers these days and the forum demographic, for some reason I thought she might be in her 60s! Even at 46 that's still absolutely amazing though. How long does it take her to run 100 miles?
No I got me one of those trophy wives. im not too sure, she doesn’t listen to me when im explaining valve clearances so I don’t listen to her when she explains her run. I think she starts very early Saturday morning then runs through the night until around Sunday lunchtime. I have an app to track her progress.
