  1. Yeah there have been quite a few rumours and websites over the years saying it will reopen but I don't think they ever get the investments they are looking for unfortunately... Would be excellent if it did but the last route was Bergen-Haugesund-Stavanger-Newcastle-Stavanger-Haugesund-Bergen with a bloody big boat and twice a week all year around, so guess it was not sustainable even though busy as eff during the summer season...

There are now no vehicular ferries between the UK & Scandinavia and that's a shame as it's a bloody long (and boring) way around unless you make a journey of it but often I just wanna get to the UK with my bike / car and spend the journey time in the UK...

  2. Twice in the eighties I travelled to Sweden on the ferry from Newcastle to Gothenburg, alas long since gone.

  3. I'd welcome that being reopened too, Gothenburg is closer to me than Stavanger, could prolly do it in 3 hours on a bike on the edge of a ban, though Stavanger over the mountains is a much nicer ride...

  4. We used Brittany ferries on one crossing and they strapped the seat down so hard on my Multistrada it bent. I had to take the seat off and stand on either side to bend it back into shape!

  5. Same happened to me, luckily I saw it before I went upstairs and got them to loosen it off before I ended up in your situation.

  6. Yes makes it awkward to say the least, love to ride up through Norway.
Perhaps I'll make do with cycling as it opens up more route options.
