Has Anyone Ever Retrofitted Abs? Specifically To An St4s

  1. As per the title really, I dont really want to go back to riding a bike without ABS, particularly when i have the wife on the pillion.
But i have seen a clean ST4S that i quite fancy and it does not have ABS as standard. As you can imagine, the pool of good ST4 models is small and dwindling.

  2. Of course, in theory. But as i said the pool of good ones is small.

  3. I wasn't aware the the 4S came without ABS. I can't remember specifying ABS back in 2002 when I bought mine. Is it possible the wiring looms were identical for both models so it would only be a pump and sensors you'd need ? Andy

  4. My 2001 ST4S did not have ABS

Fitting is more complex. More than just a pump and sensors.

  5. Buy the non ABS and I'll swap ya, coz I'm considering removing mine haha :=)

  6. When you say abs how do you mean something from early 2000s or modern stuff? The development is massive.

you only have to count the number of pick up points for the hall sensor to know what you are getting. In the 2000s the front wheel had 6 or sometimes 8 .. that’s new wheel speed information every 60 degrees of rotation. Look at a panigale front pick up now in the range of 60 or so, new information every 6 degrees of rotation that’s a modern abs! And totally incompatible with just fitting a pump and some leads
Of course anything is possible but not realistic !

buy a similar bike with an agricultural system is a wzz aste of time. If you value your pillion that much buy a newer bike With modern tech abs cornering abs split braking combined braking anti slide wheelie control yadda yadda…
