Oh, I've been voyering since the thread started It has some interesting parts (like the custom tie rap brake line>fork holder), and the paint, especially on the nose, has seen better days. Don't get me started on the crash damage. My main concern is who in the hell is paying a 15% buyer's fee???? That's insane even by American standards and as horrible as Iconic Auctioneers lol. 5-7%, ok, 10%, sure if I really want it. But 15%?! Piss off.
Äaaahmm.... 15% plus VAT@20% makes it 18% in total. It's the going rate now for complete bikes. For basket cases or parts it's nearer 30%. As a buyer, you factor it in and the hammer prices paid reflect that in the last couple of years. Many bikes don't make their reserve or lower estimate.
Did you guys think this was just a beauty mark or what? You don't get that kind of damage from just a tip-over. That is grind thru the fairing kind of damage. Why the seller couldn't be bothered to easily replace the water pump cover is beyond me, but I wouldn't send something like this to auction like that.
Doesn't look like tarmac damage to me. The water drain plug and its red paint spot would have been damaged also. I'd go with the fairing pad/rub/corrosion theory!
Yeah, a track fairing without the insulation on the inside or an ill fit would certainly do that over time as well.
Agree with the above - both my 748 and 916 had this type of mark on the water pump case. Normal “character”.
dumb dealer if he/she did i reckon its going to a private buyer who's happy that is not a numbered model and fancies some tinkering or perhaps even some classic racing
