I've had a Kawasaki J300 (Kymco Downtown in Cinderella's party frock) since 2014 - brilliant thing. Originally I bought it to commute to work on but kept it when I retired in 2018 and it's now up to 27,000 miles. 70 mpg however you ride it and easy 70 mph cruising. I use it in winter and for running errands but also in preference to my other bikes to visit my son who lives 100 miles away. So much easier for the M25 slow or stationary traffic filtering because you are never in the wrong gear and having to constantly use the clutch. My mate has one of those Honda X-ADV 750 things but I can't see the point of it myself. £11.5k and hardly any underseat storage, to be honest it doesn't really do anything a 300 or 400cc scooter does?

I had a Burgman AN400 until recently, great scooter, used to take it with us on a trailer behind the motorhome. 80mpg and would cruise at 75 two up plus enough room under the set for two full face helmets or a weeks grocery shopping.
Very useful. I am finding out that I do not think the scooter - however capable - will replace my other bike - the Kawi Z1100 SE. I have a mind to have a tattoo done - "do not sell the Z1100" 'kin epic that thing... Edit : A bigger X-Max 300 could be the next bike because they are so useful, but still keep a proper bike.
Yeah I have a proper bike or two as well. Might regret selling the scoot as we’re thinking of getting another campervan or motorhome.

Don't be mistaken, scooters can be very addictively hooligan .... My old 2011 X-Max 250. I had a quite serious speeding ticket - when I got my licence back decided to go all sensible, just transport, so bought the X-Max 250. Not as sensible as I thought though ...
I know what you mean - I had it for two years and that is the only picture of it. The newer ones are better - I like the look of the current XMax range. Is that really a scooter ? Seems a very long way from the two stroke 50cc scooters that the teenagers whizz around on (before electric push bikes). Does the name "scooter" really do it justice ? It looks the business.....what a thing.
Sorry to keep going on about it, but this is really interesting - teardown of the engine examining the bearings, how it is made. The NMax 155 has Variable Valve Activation Technology - on a 155cc scooter ! Moto Tech - takes apart all kinds of engines including Ducati ! Sorry - I will shut up about it now !
