So what have you done today..?

  1. Plumbed in 2 50 gallon plastic drums as water butts.
With only 2 small circular openings in the tops how do you fit plastic nut to threaded plastic spigot at bottom of drum?
Plastic internal ‘nut’ is not a proper flat sided shape so a socket just slips.
Solution: wrap nut in PTFE tape to bulk it out. Get closest size socket, a UJ & metal pole. Right PITA to do but it worked:upyeah:

  2. Yesterday we took the pups for the regular grooming session. Today theyve got doggy day care so they will look like scruff balls again at the end of the day……..but at least we’ll have had a few hours respite and I may even get out on the bike for a few hours :)
I saw a young lass out in one of those puffa coats yesterday.............I had a T shirt and shorts on and was sweating cobs!

  3. Not read a good book for years....i dont read books as any external noise means i cant concentrate. Recommended by my older brother.... The Gone World. Apparently the rights have been bought by the guy that made District 9 and Dune so if it turns into a film then wow...what a film it would be....

Multiple homicides, Time Travel and the end of the world....quite the mix....engines that power the Timeships are called "Brant Lomanato Quantum Foam Macro Drive Generator" or B-L drive....even the name sounds cool.

  8. I actually have the opposite problem. I really feel the cold - always have - to such an extent that my Northern Card was revoked years ago.

  9. Serious question.......does it affect your breathing/chest when it's cold? Since my "episode" last July I seem to be affected by the cold night air and it did affect my breathing. However I was prescribed a brown inhaler a couple of weeks ago and that seems to be helping so far.

  10. I don’t get anything like that. I think I’m just nesh! It may be because I’ve got long limbs and, therefore, a lot of surface area and a small core in proportion to my body size/mass. The bald head probably doesn’t help either.

  11. Had a ride on a ferry, albeit, a small one, ro a small island off the west coast of Scotland 20260702_103043.jpg 20260702_104112.jpg 20260702_112312.jpg

Delivered a load of sand, now on the return ferry back to the mainland

Not my truck, just the one i am driving, mine went bang, bang, bang yesterday, snapped the half shaft, lost all drive, so they brought me a spare one down

  12. Did the ferry have real windows or were they just painted on? You can ask Finm about that, but you better be prepared to scroll through a barely intelligible multi-screen diatribe about how it’s all an evil lie cooked up by Westminster and the right wing press, and anyway, even if it wasn’t a lie and they didn’t have real windows, that’s also the fault of (well, you get the idea). :D

  13. Actually did some painting which is rare these days since no one has any money anymore.
Painted inside of the bosses garage at the marina.
Painted 10 floating pontoon bollards black which was fun.
Painted the tiny new cellar at the marina bar, now I know how Steve McQueen felt when they sent him to the cooler.
Creosoted a storage shed at the marina using the real stuff then got all my work clothes thrown outside by the wife because apparently creosote smells awful.
Now I’m sitting in the lounge in my pants :joy:

Some drone shots taken yesterday before it clattered into a tree, crash-landed very close to the edge of a pond and I decided I should learn to use it properly before trying “follow mode” again. The actual footage is much clearer - those are just screenshots from a low-res preview.

  19. Just arrived at Snetterton for the BSB weekend. Folding camper is up, beer has been drunk and a variety of cheeses is being consumed. A rather pungent, smoked Stilton has hit the spot :D It's hot with a typical WW2 airfield wind blowing a hooley. Not sure fireproof overalls will be pleasant but looking forward to the weekend.
