Zerofit - Why The Hype?

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by RC1, Jun 3, 2026.

  1. Can't comment on the summer version or the 151s, came across both of them while browsing but my wife had already bought me the knox base layers. I don't feel the need to get anything else for summer. The original ones i have are on sale now as they've released a new pair.

Also @Android853sp is right about the collar, it isn't as tall as the heatrub version but way more so than my knox.

  2. Iceskin has a collar
    just ordered one
I have used Under Armour for years, now showing its age lol, with collar

  3. My Zero Fit Ice Skin has just arrived.
What a disappointment for £60. I doubt it cost more than a couple of quid to make from polyester and nylon and the seams look narrow and feeble.

I am working on my own “base layer” product specifically for track and road riders and would hope to produce a much finer product for £60.

Packaging was the most impressive Zero Fit element.

  5. As previously mentioned my partner bought me a ZeroFit Ice Skin top for my birthday. Had it on trip to Ireland last week. Thought before departure it would stay in my luggage and my Helvarsons Merino top would be the base layer of choice. Whilst it was a degree or two cooler than the UK the combo of the ZeroFit and my Klim Marrakesh jacket did keep me pretty cool. Quite a bit of that being the airflow of the Klim I reckon. It's pretty thin but survived the trip. It feels very synthetic and a bit sweaty when stationary but did its job and was comfortable all day on the bike. Looked a bit of gimp at lunch and coffee stops though. I'd give it a score of 3 out of 5.

  6. Have the Ultimate Heat Rub top for Winter use and have never been cold or needed multi layers under a jacket.
Riden to WDW this week, through temps of low 2degrees on top of one of the Swiss passess upto 33 degrees C around lake Garda yesterday with the ice skin base layers top and legs.
Pretty useless at 2 degrees but for the rest haven't felt like a sweaty mess under my leathers, so its a win from me.
Think its slightly over priced as a downside but seems to work well.

  7. I've had one set of merino base layers and it wore out after one season. No holes suddenly appearing, it just got thinner and more see-through and abraded away. The top wasn't too bad but the leggings wore out around the crutch very quickly. It just wasn't hard wearing. It was also faintly itchy. Can't remember the brand.

  8. I'd be interested if they're made to fit the Anglo-Saxon frame. Most base layers are made in Asia and they don't fit Europeans. They may be the right size but they're the wrong shape. Not enough room in the crutch (yeah I know, snigger snigger, but it's a fact and an annoying one) and the waist band sits to low. I've never had a pair of base leggings with a waist band that properly cleared my hips so that they slide down at the back beneath my outer trousers, like an urban yoof with his jeans at half-mast. It's very uncomfortable. I'm sure it's down to fit. My outer trousers don't move because I wear braces.

  9. I know exactly what you are saying. I bought a top and bottom from X-Bionic for a huge amount of money. I ordered Large and can barely breathe in them. Not ideal when trying to go fast on a track.
I want a European supplier so I can actually meet the manufacturer, feel the material and specify the dimensions.
I particularly want to cover that annoying gap that opens up at the back between top and bottom garment when you sit on the bike. An elasticated panel, like your one-piece leathers is under consideration.
It is slow and tedious work, but hopefully it works out.

  10. I don't ride on track but I get the same problem on the road. I don't notice the droopy waist band on the bike so much but as soon as I get off and walk about I can feel my base legging hanging at half mast. I've largely given up wearing leggings but on an all-day ride the jeans get chafy without them.
Good luck with your venture. When you can get a product to market you'll have a buyer waiting here.

  11. That’s very kind.
Collecting feedback from riders is always useful.
Version one will be summer weight material.
Then comes the winter version made from bear skins :p

  12. I'd go for the summer layers. I already have a 100% warm and dry winter layer. It's called a Landrover...:innocent:

  14. Fortunately mine is a Freelander 2. Everything works - for now anyway... Climate control, heated seated etc. I used to think heated seats were strictly for wooftahs till I hit the button by mistake after a cold wet winter day when the back of my legs were soaked through. Bliss.

  15. I wore a ZeroFit IceSkin top riding in the Dolomites in 37C for 6 days last month.
Pros: very good at wicking, great for sliding leathers on and off, seams are fine and seem strong to me, drip dries ridiculously quickly after a hand wash.
Cons: tight fit, but then again it's supposed to be, not something an OAP should be wearing (not in public anyway), rollneck collar is for a different shaped body to mine (like a 25-years olds), cost.

Overall, I am pretty happy with the purchase, since 37C wasn't pleasant stood still, and it wicked very well.
Not sure about white though - a bit brave. Mine is black.
