Yeah, I saw all the other threads on it, and have enquired at a few places that say they can refurb them. Someone might have a solution but not holding out much hope Pain in the arse not being able to rebuild them but then it' is 26 years old.
Fiddled about with the billet starter switch that was on my 1098R - want to fit it to my 749R trackbike but the 1098 wiring is a 4 wire connector whereas the 749 has an 8 block connector (with 7 wires). Worked out which 3 are redundant so will do a cut n’ shut splice next time I’m fiddling about.
Duplex frame old Triumph Hypermotard Sherco I think it was no more than about £30. Very solid build and really useful...
Been riding without a rear brake light due to a faulty switch for some time now. Not such an issue as it still works when the front brakes are used. But with the m.o.t soon, thought I'd get it fixed. No help from gecko rearsets who supplied the original brake switch as they've decided not to reply to my emails anymore. Fine I'll make it myself.. £12 in total for a universal banjo and plug to connect together. all working now. Just the fiddley job trying to attach it in its original position behind the rearsets.. Oh.. and to bleed to rear brakes again
Realised I work disliking servicing a Diavel as much as I dislike servicing a multistrada. Too much extraneous crap to remove. And the fecking exhaust just to do the belts. On the bright side my ex BSB panigale engine coughed into life this afternoon. Then fouled the very very very expensive plugs. Which need the removal of the cam carrier to get them out.
Had a trip up to see mum this morning, took the Versys, as it is currently still the only bike i can ride, put another 100 miles on it in readiness for the first service
It was flat as a pancake and now revs like it should. Its a supermoto type thing so it needs a bit of revs. It revs well for a 700 cc single
Did a 100 mile ride out this morning to clear my head. I forgot to balance the front wheel when I changed the tyre so that’s the next job as it’s not very nice at speed.
Dropped the Gixxer front end off the paddock stand while trying to lift it up to balance the wheel and scratched the front mudguard…..bugger.
Anything like my GasGas 700, the Ducati 698 I found the same..i It'll be strangled to pass EU emissions. Only an issue for me when in town which isn't often.
