A bit of a situation with the office sweepstake at work - 2 people have got England and will want their money if England win. I organised the draw -allocated each country a number at random 1-48 and everyone present in the office put their name next to a number (maximum of three per person) at £2 each. To include everyone, numbers were allocated at random to anyone not in the office on 11 June which was the start of the tournament. So everyone had a team. I did the reveal once all the teams had been allocated and one guy in the office was happy to have chosen England. There is a very proud Scotsman in our office - who was not there for the draw - so it was thought to be funny if we told him that he had chosen England in the draw - he suspected a stich-up as we told him whilst grinning like cheshire cats that he had England in the draw. Now England are progressing and he will want his £96 sweepstake winnings if England win - but so will "Dave". There will be 2 claimants on the prize. I will have to pay both of them or never hear the end of it. There is another thing - I bought a FIFA replica trophy with my own money - before they sold out - that is not officially part of the sweepstake winnings though I said the winner could have it - it is a FIFA certified product and sits there in the office on display. So we will see how it pans out Our office - FIFA certified - World Cup trophy !!
OOPS! As you have two people down for England, presumably you have one unclaimed team? Are they still in with a chance?
No - one was Egypt. The boss got France. I chose by famous race numbers - (No. 46) that got me Algeria and Casey Stoner's (No. 27) got me Bosnia. It worked well. I allocated the country a number and then no one knew what country they had drawn - that helped sell all the tickets. If the top countries were drawn first then no one would be interested in playing. I think I will call Panama for the booby prize of £10 as Panama were the only team not to score a single goal - that is poor. So someone will get lucky with a tenner. Big game this week end !
Especially against Mexico and hopefully Norway, as Big Dan knows how to stifle the blond bimbo on the pitch.
