OK, i've been riding Ducatis for 40+ years and Multistradas for 16, so I should know better than to expect the manual to offer much. But, even so, a couple of things I've not been able to work out: - is there a way of having the ignition-on default to low beam + DRL? I've set the DRL setting to manual, but it defaults on switch-on to DRL only, not DRL+low beam. I want the lot… - my riding mode indicator just flashes all the time, in all modes. And that's after making sure that I close the throttle to allow it to switch. Slowly getting to grips with the bike: handling is sublime and the fuel consumption is proving much better than I'd been led to believe. Next step is to join battle with the phone system…
It's DRL or low beam, not both. You can switch off the auto DRL/low beam in the menu. Phone system ? Just don't, it's utter white. Rider mode shouldn't flash, potentially an issue. Andy
Not with the lights, don't think you can, I do wish it was a bit more obvious which format you have selected, if for example its rained, often the auto will not bring the headlights on, much like cars. My modes do not flash, but I always stop when changing, it's a faff trying to do it on the move. I have touring set for when it's me and the wife, sport for just me, race when trackdays, preload options set for each as well. As Andy says about the phone set up, don't bother, all my things run through my Garmin. Good bike choice btw
Looks like I had a Schrodinger state of indeterminacy! I'd reset the modes to Default when I got home yesterday, to start with a clean slate. It appeared to have happened, as the default option vanished from the menus, but was getting the flashing in all modes. I just went in and reset again, and now everything is displaying OK. I've now discovered that disabling auto DRL and then hitting the DRL/fog light button after power up leaves both the DRLs and dipped beam on. Which is what I want, but I'd love to have it as the default. I think that auto lights are a bit of a dumb carryover from the VAG car world - on a bike you usually want maximum illumination at all times.
And, yes, having finally got Ducati Connect sort of working, it appears to be largely pointless and a dreadful piece of software design. Fortunately the previous owner had been kind enough to leave the Evotech mount in place so I can set up my Quadlock charging head and use my phone for everything.
And one more - how the hell do I reset trip 2? Trip 1 is easy enough, but nothing I’ve tried works for trip 2. Edit: I was making the mistake of assuming that the top line in the three-line window was the 'active' line. Nope - it's the middle one. Once I'd twigged that, it worked fine.
Just hold down the toggle switch for about 2-3 secs and the bottom left hand menu will become highlighted by a white border. Once done, moving the toggle switch up/down scrolls through the various trip & fuel consumption views. To reset Trip 1 or 2 just press and hold the toggle button once on the desired trip and menu will pop up ‘reset, yes - no?’
So... (having owned one for 5 months - tch) what was the conclusion in getting the low beam to stay on? Is it: - Settings -> DRL -> Auto or Manual? (or doesn't it matter if you're going to press the righthand DRL/fog button anyway) - start engine - press righthand DRL/fog button once (and only once!) - wave hand in front of lights just to be sure the low beam is on - ride, and the low beam stays on for that ride only And just to say, my riding mates said the low beam shows up much better than the DRLs - contrary to what the Owners Manual claims.
