Wanted:- Source For "self-adhesive Cushioning Pads" To Improve Mounting Of Top Box/panniers

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Chris, Jul 13, 2026 at 1:14 PM.

  1. As title, about to look on EBay/Amazon etc but would be great to not go through the learning curve of buying inferior rubbish before discovering the best options. The "Shore hardness" needs to be around medium soft as a rough guide. I have inherited some on recent bike, but about to strip and powdercoat.

  2. You probably know this, but try and get some with a 3M adhesive backing. The best by far.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  3. Bejus what a mental imagine that conveys.

  4. I'm not quite sure what you want but my understanding is you want something to stop movement/rattling of panniers and top box
On my sports bikes i have SW Motech soft panniers to protect the paintwork i use some black rubberised mesh which is sold in many places as non-slip cupboard and drawer liners.
I found that a small piece folde over and placed on the rack of my top box stops all movement of the top box
(I also discovered later that custom paint sprayers use it to make avery good imitation of carbon fibre)

  5. Will bear this in mind ^
Ordered now - Thanks for all your help - thread can be closed.

  6. I’ve previously used flooring protection pads for furniture with some success
Bought then cut to size to suit your needs
Stops rattles and protects painted surfaces.
