Hi All, I am trying to clean the mesh strainer on my 19K miles 2002 Monster 900ie. It's one of the later models with separate cap and strainer I have a 14mm hex driver which fits the strainer fine, but the strainer is in very very tight, wont come out and I don't want to break anything !! I expected it to be little more than hand tight TBH. I'm not trying to take the wrong part out am I ?? I don't expect there to be any debris; I guess that this system harks back to the crude filtration of the Bevel Days, not really necessary with modern cartridge filters ??
Mine was tight on my 1100 multi ,much tighter than i expected ,as long as your hex is a decent fit you should not have any problems .
Assume its that large hex nut then? Always assumed that was for the neutral light for some daft reason. I've got a 900ie lump in my M900 build so will check this out before building
