I'm considering getting a 800 Scrambler, just a cheapish one, looked at three today, going to look at a few more tomorrow. One thing that struck me was two out of three of the bikes I saw had a really soft front brake action, you could almost pull it right back to the twist-grip. Obviously hydraulics can be bled, but I've never had a bike with a front brake that soft. One place had an 1100 Scrambler alongside, and the brake on that felt fine. So I guess my question is, is this a known thing with Scramblers? And are there any pitfalls to look out for when buying? I have to say, that I'm not a fan of going back to a cable clutch. Again, one of those clutch actions seemed pretty heavy to me. Maybe not Laverda Jota levels, but heavier than most clutches nowadays!
My older 800 was the same.... But I had the same (worse) on a 1100 too... no brake at all after being left over the winter. The Gen 2 Scramblers have Hydraulic Clutch... I find the 800 is a more fun ride than the 1100.... (I have has 2 of each) Started 2015 800 - Then 2018 1100 - Then 2024 1100 - then 2025 800.... They are fun bikes and as I am vertically challenged good for me. I have also had Multi 1200S DVT 1260S 950 and V4S Swapped the V4S for the HyperMotard - to reduce weight. Now have the 800 Scrambler and V2 Hypermotard and V2 Monster on Order... What they need to do is a Gen 3 Scrambler with the V2 Engine... You will enjoy it if you get one...
