Just having a play to see next step, might get one of those small bike lift to help with the engine positioning seem a good buy for around £25.
You can buy a small stand if you think it will help of course, but my experience is that, though I have one, I’ve never used it for any Ducati trellis bike I’ve rebuilt, I just prop the engine at a jaunty angle on a mat on the floor, lower the frame carefully over it, insert the engine bolts with nuts loosely, then lift the frame and engine to a working height (looks like you are using towing straps over a beam) to reinstall front end, swingarm etc.
Was having a look last night and think I don’t need a lift as have an old car jack and wood to support the engine which will have more stability with the straps, You mention you put the nuts on loosely then lift any reason you don’t torque up first then lift,
Id have though to ensure the block sits squarely in the frame letting gravity assist Then systematically torque the bolts in sequence But then again I’ve never done this
Yes, this ^ pretty much. I like to get all the main components on, plus the wiring and breathers etc. before I torque everything up just in case I need a little “wiggle room” between the engine and frame (to get something through or better lined up. Probably I don’t need to, but that’s why.
