  1. Hi everyone ive recently bought a 1098s & the rear seat cover is red with white panels on it finished with a gold pinstripe. is this off a 1098R or a 1198R ?

I'd be happy to swap it with a standard red one if anyone wants it or knows anyone who does ?

    Cheers Paul.

  2. No the 1 you have appears to have been painted to look like a 1098R.

    I don't think that you can swap a 1098s seat unit onto a 1098R.

For 1 the R's are a 1 piece carbon fibre unit.
Also the Traction Control unit sits in the position on the sub frame. The little cubby hole underneath the pillion seat is different between the 2 models. A friend of mine had to adapt a 1098S seat unit to fit on a 1098R (basically the area underneath the pillion seat). Oh last but not least the 10/1198r seat units are about £3000 + VAT. They do pop up on Fleabay from time to time though.

  3. Thanks for your reply ......could it be from a Tri-colore or something ?
I was a car painter for 23yrs & it looks very original to me ....

  4. Why don't you Google :-

    Ducati
    1098S
    1098R
    1098 Tricolore

You'll see quite clearly the differences.

  5. Farmster, that finish isn't standard, it's been painted. 1089s came in red, black and yellow? I think.
