A previous owner of my 900 has treated it to a set of stainless engine bolts, except for these which he obviously couldn't shift. What's the best thing to do with them? I'm reluctant to just try and shift them because they look pretty rounded off already. A few days of penetrating oil and an impact driver? Fit the full fairing and forget about it? Any ideas?
I had a similar problem on an SS head. If you can't unscrew them(an oversized torx bit hammered in sometimes does the job if impact driver doesn't), drill the allen head off carefully and once the cam bearing block is off there's about 6mm of shaft left to grip with the old faithful mole grips. I did mine on a loose head but maybe not so easy in situ. Its normally the bolt head that's seized not the thread tho.
Had the same problem with one of mine. Best way is to drill the head off the Allen bolt, use a new sharp bit though cause if you use a blunt one it'll veer off and start hitting the casing and they're like soft cheese...
