Grrr....lost thr stupid brake lever ferrule!

  1. Hi all,

So....I'd decided to change the levers on my ST3 for some bright shiny new Oberon ones. All going well, until I tripped and dropped the 'ferrule' (short round pin with a hole in for the brake activation) which fits in the lever.

Dropped it down somewhere between the fairing and the frame, and despite me removing the lower and middle fairing, it is nowhere to be seen.

I'm assuming it may drop out when I ride, but in the mean time, I'm supposed to be riding my bike on Monday, but am now facing being grounded by the lack of a 1cm long piece of metal.

I cant seem to find it referred to separately on the parts list, and (for obvious reasons) I don't need a new Brembo lever.

Any idea where I could get one from, or what it's shared with? Is it a standard part shared with other bikes.

I knew I should have put a towel between the lever and the bike!

  2. Get an telescopic magnet in there......

  3. Wot he said

  4. Thanks guys.

With all of one side's fairings removed, the petrol tank propped up, and a telescopic magnet 'swept' over the whole of the engine, I still hadn't found anything.

Was trying to rig something up temporarily to get me to the garage which I knew would have a spare. When....I only went and dropped the temporary 'fix part' (was actually the clutch actuating part Oberon had supplied in the kit) from the same place (by the brake lever on the bar).

Being brighter metal, this part showed up a lot easier, and I was able to pick it up using my magnet, from a crevice behind the battery terminal wiring.

'Hmmm' I thought 'it would be too much to hope for that the previous part had fallen in the same place'.

But - A quick look with a torch and the magnet, and bingo! The part was there!

So, if you ever drop a bolt down the inside of the fairing from near the bars, check around the top of the battery!

Phew! Levers fitted, and looking good (even if I say so myself!).
