Thought I read somewhere that cheap fix to the steamy clocks was to drill a tiny hole in the back of the casing...May have dreamt it of course...
Nice write up in post 1.Im sure the more you ride the newer bike the more you will like it. Almost feel sorry for the 1098 as its being compared to the king of all road bikes.Fast bikes words not mine from Dream twins videos.Especialy if you put them on a size 0 model diet of carbon and magnesium.Ive tried out a few newer standard dukes including R's and they all felt very heavy and a bit tame and civilised if im honest compared to mine. The SP SPS bikes are fire spitting hooligan bikes and mine can still gives me a mega buzz when im giving it the beans.I guess it the way these bikes deliver the power that is the key ie compared to the smoother more refined newer dukes. As for sound the SP SPS bikes wins that one hands down by a long way.However im getting tempted by a 1098R now prices have dropped but would have to sell the 916SPS.That aint gonna happen.
went out for a tickle seeing as it was more or less dry...cheers to me old mucker Troy for being on the end of the phone today when my immobiliser, immobilised me at the roadside! She decided to start again, just as the AA bloke was zipping up his jacket... NOW she feels like my Ducati! I adjusted every mm of slack out of the throttle that i could and she was infinitely better, still too baggy, but now she was at least rideable. Had a decent little run, to the point where the bike started to disappear as it were and i actually started to enjoy myself..Guess i'll grow to love the misty headlight and the semi unreadable display...the comedy mirrors are actually slightly less useless than in my 916, so thats a bonus. On the way home after my hours AA wait, i rode on familiar roads..its a constant battle not to ride like a complete bell end, which i occasionally lost with a series of potential prison sentence offending pretty much all the way home...had a moment on a roundabout when i went over a line of diesel, but somehow, very little drama ensued... So i cant wait to get her properly fettled for next year, change the battery, put some carbon and anodised tat on her...sitting at the computer now, i feel like live been sucker punched..its all a bit of daze...the power of these things is pornographic...i was quite literally disgusted....fekk knows what its like to actually to be able to use all of that power and use all of that handling...maybe one of you self delusional types could tell me.... One ought not be allowed to behave in this manner...it should be against the law..oh, hang on...it is... Well...it should be against the law for Ducati to make bikes this friggin seductive....i find it irresponsible, and it not only makes a mockery of the traffic laws that we have so proudly and fiercely fought for in this country, but it is also degrading to the riders who are being used as little more than sexy toys, and who are unwittingly becoming addicts of this sort of thing...
