Duly noted and part-implemented Regarding change of attitude, the OP stays bar the swearing but if it all goes tits up then at least I've possibly done something for Hyside to take away (i.e. post-sales customer service requiring improvement), however my original comment was pretty much as I saw it because here was me with a bike costing more than most new bikes with a fault that failed the sale of goods act as far as I was concerned (and a fault that may not just be a simple bleed issue) and a salesman effectively telling me it was tough and I shouldn't bother ringing back. In which case they've lost my business if they happen to see this thread and refuse to pay. However, if goes well I'll be happy and they'll get my repeat business if the situation arises and this will be a happy thread praising Hyside for their top-brass stepping in.
Well, such is life @wroughtironron, I guess I'd have to email admin. I'm confident it will all be well when I take it into the garage as the Hyside boss seemed very reasonable and helpful. However, if it really goes badly (which I hope not) I have the small claims court if I wish to recoup my repairs or if not both the distance selling law behind me (I haven't had the bike 7 days and because I have received no contract the cost for delivery and collection is not to be paid by me) and because the bike was not as described or fit for the purpose it fails the sale of goods act covers me too, so even if it's outside the 7 days I'm due for a full refund of the bike and delivery/collection. Which I did make clear at the end of my heated discussion with the saleman, but unfortunately he appeared to not understand these laws.
I think you were absolutely right to post on here as your first response from them was terrible and there's always some good advice on here how to approach this. If busied get any flack because of this thread they have nobody to blame but the arse in sales that tried fob you off
Now the evil demons have been subdued may be 'Hyside woes' would be more appropriate However, for those interested my bike is back from the local ducati garage (M&S in Newcastle) and their work and help was superb. The fault was covered by warranty (which Ducati have now paid for) and the work was about an hour's work to strip out the rear wheel, exhaust and bleed the system through. They also set the chain to the correction tension and oiled it (another gripe I had regarding Hyside's predelivery work was the chain felt like it was about to snap and was rusty meaning I guess they never checked or oiled it) and checked for any outstanding recalls. So, overall I'm happy with the outcome (i.e my bike is fixed) and that Hyside eventually stepped in and did the right thing (even if it didn't cost them anything in the end). I have sent them an email both thanking the boss for his work but pointing out their failings in the hope that they can use it to improve their post-sales customer service
Just a final note, somebody mentioned early on whether Hyside saw my thread and made the decision to help out because of this or whether they never saw it and if they did would refused to help.... Well after a few final emails with the boss they have been reading this thread Sadly while I hopefully left ourselves in good stead they are adamant it was all my fault for being angry on the phone and that the tone of my thread was all wrong. I thought I was quite reasonable in my OP, despite the swearing On a happier note, now the brake works and the chain is nice and oily I felt much happier riding it this afternoon and it's a dream, even in filtering/slow traffic so I don't think I'll be needing a 14T front sprocket. If anyone's thinking of getting one, do. Even the lads at work who think Ducatis sound like a bag of spanners were awestruck by the noise and the looks (perhaps a wet clutch is the future).
Pah, yeh ..... "wet clutch" ..... pull the other one .... you'll be telling me they have electrickery controlling the fuelling next!
Sometimes posting on a web forum isnt a great idea, however I think Chucklepie has been quite reasonable and not gone off on a huge rant slagging them off. Its unfortunate that a bikeshop may sometimes only act when its been highlighted in public so to speak, but it happens over here too. Granted Hyside fixed the issue, but why did they string it out for this long , they should have just fixed it first time round no questions asked. @ Chucklepie glad you got sorted.
