hi all am in need of some advise from you all in the know,,,,, i have a ducati 748 and am in desperate need of a slipper clutch. what im wanting to know is is there any slipper clutches of other ducatis that fit the 748,, or am i just best of buying a new one. i spoke to Neil Spalding owner of sigma performance and with 21% business discount it was £750 delivered realy wanting some good advise
There are currently a number of slipper clutches on flea bay. For a second hand slipper you should expect a complete clutch probably without plates which are about £150. The 748R clutch is a ramp type and although simple it is very effective. Another type uses ball bearings and from experience on my 853 is good as well. I am not a fan of cheaper aftermarket slippers but that is just me. I would phone your dealer to ask what they have to offer or you could phone Craig at Moto Raoido o 01962 877998 option 1. I would pay as much as you can afford, either for a new one or a good second hand one and don't be put off by 4 spring, if it was good enough for Ducati, it certainly will be good enough for you. Andy
I just picked up a second hand Ducati performance one from eBay for 145 euros so I might be wise to have a look what's on sale at the moment. I have a stm Evo as well and can't say anything wrong about either type of clutch. Be sure to get the stack height right if fitting yours self and also some clutches require a friction plate to be fitted first to prevent a steel plate falling behind the centre hub ( I learnt the hard way on this one)
