Members I am in the process of gathering the parts required for a Biposto to Monoposto seat change. I think they're separate parts but can someone confirm is the Bip seat bracket the same as a Mono? If not can a Bip one be bastardised to fit? Thanks COH555
Which bracket do you mean? The front is the same but the rear is different. The lock plate is the same, so in other words two out of three brackets will fit. You will need the seat plate that bolts to the four fixings on the mono seat as this not the same as a biposto bracket. If you check the parts manual of any bike that comes equipped with either then you can compare part numbers, that's the easiest way, I think.
I used all the bip bits on my mono conversion. The bip seat fits the mono seat unit. The only bit i had to change was the locking catch on the back needed some 1 inch spaces on it so it would lock in correctly. I just cut down a bit of plastic 15mm plumbing pipe and used that. Worked a treat.
Ducati used to sell the proper spacer that's noted above although it is quite long and may need cutting down, it was part of their conversion kit. A genuine seat shouldn't need spacers but many aftermarket ones do.
