Monster down pipes

  1. My 750 SSie is equipped with the smaller bore headers that they saw to fit to some bikes.

My understanding is that all monsters had the 43mm headers and these seem to come up more often and cheaper on eBay.

My question is how different are they where the pipes join? I need to make brackets for my semi high level Micron cans so would I get away with it?

  2. I think Monsters have 40mm headers? at least my 900 has and I also have some header pipes from a 600 which are the same size, unless ie models are larger.

Also AFAIK the headers on the Monster are the same as an SS, at least on the carby models with the 900 being slightly longer than the 750/600/400.

  3. Sorry doing more reading an the monsters all had 40mm but the later 750 is had smaller headers. Need to pop out and measure mine now.

Do the monster headers exit at a different angle to the SS?

  4. I thought they were the same part but I've not examined an SS exhaust close up so can't say 100% maybe the rear header is different due to the swingarm?

  5. Rear pipe is at a different angle and the pipe exits are at different angles, rear pipe on monster goes through swingarm wheras ss is in front of swingarm. One will not fit the other, tust me!

  6. That was the answer I was looking for. Thanks.

I will keep my eyes out for some SS ones. My understanding is the 620 or 800 are the ones to have.

  7. I may even have some 900 ss front pipes hanging up in the garage, i will look i the morning, pm me.
