I bought one of these from this seller for the Streetfighter S a few months ago. I believe it to be the real thing. It turned up in about 4 days. (Check his feedback of 20th April) I also have a slipper in my 1098s bought from and fitted by a Ducati dealer. I have a receipt for £800ish and the original DP box. They both look absolutley identical although the one I bought from eBay didn't come in the box. Some OEM stuff doesn't. I've serviced the one in my 1098s and installed the one in the SF so I've had the things in my hands quite a bit. The original Ducati clutch plates fit like a glove and it works perfectly. Funny you mention the spider Steve, as the one in the 1098s has started to rust, and I'm 100% certain it's a genuine item. I managed to scratch the nosecone on my 1098s loading it into a van to take it for a service last winter. I didn't want to get it painted, so bought a brand new one from eBay. A similar set up to this slipper, in that the seller had a lot of new Ducati spares and was in Italy. It arrived, well packaged, although not in the Ducati box. It's 100% the real deal with all of the Ducati markings and date identifiers. Like Steve says, you can take your chances on eBay at times. But I can only give you the benefit of my experience with this seller. By the way. When I bought mine, I looked at all of his listings. As he lists them for different countries, you can save quite a bit of money as they seem to be listed at different prices. eg : Item 251338839875
100% positive feedback plus he has been selling those clutches for quote some time now. Any way looking at the user name I guess he gets discount from the factory lol £400 seems realistic, alarm bells would ring at £200
Hmm, see if you can get him down to 300. I suspect these come direct from the manufacturer to the ebayer.
I've just dug out my receipt. I paid him €389 + €35 postage. That worked out at about £350 at the time.
Ive used Ducati Performance and STM slipper clutches.STM is miles better. SYSTEME D'EMBRAYAGE SLIPPER CLUTCH STM ORIGINAL DUCATI 996/R/S/SP/BIPOSTO | eBay For best results with slipper clutches I would also fit a brembo radial 18x16 clutch master cylinder too.
I've no experience of the STM slipper Matt, so can't comment. I have heard good things on a few forums. That seller has an awful lot of negative feedback though. If I was going to go down the STM route, I think I'd look elsewhere.
Havent looked at his feedback just a very good price. If you pay via paypal any problem should see a refund. Trust me when I say STM are miles better. You can buy them in the UK but bloody expensive.Think JHP stock STM stuff now and HM Racing . Heres the STM website http://www.stm.to.it/site/en/index.php
Like I said STM cost a bit more but worth every penny in my experience. You can buy the basket and plates via STM and you get a choice of STM 12 tooth or STM 48 Tooth version.Im using the standard 12T basket with Ducati bronze sintered racing plates.Perfect.Ive used the 48T kit before but it makes a right racket more high pitched jangly noise than 12T that got on my nerves. The 48T kit is meant to last longer though. Almost forgot with STM slippers you can have the standard 6 spring design or evo one like in this pic.I preferred the standard 6 spring original STM slipper.
I might have said this before but Ive an STM 6 spring 48t on my 916. And ive got a 6 spring sigma centre with an STM 48t to go on my 1198
