DZUS Fastners on 848 panels ?

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Fastmonkey, Nov 14, 2013.

  1. I'm building up some panels for track use for next season and have genuine belly pan and side panels and an aftermarket nose that matches the OEM fittings.

I want to use Dzus fasteners for ease of maintenance and swapping back to road panels (which I'll leave on the standard fixings) and wondered what is involved with using them on the OEM panels ? From memory on my 996 they have a nut bit that fitted to the back of the panel and the main d ring went into this and locked it tight. How would that work on the standard panels ?

  2. A few have done it & I really liked the idea and wanted to do it BUT all the ones I have came across require modification of some of the panels/mounts.

The 2 I looked at were the set from Pro Bolt & Curvy Girl. Curvy Girl's seem to be the most popular from what I can gather

  3. Thanks for the reply, I don't mind modifying the panels that's ok as they are spares. KurvyGirl are American only from what I can see ?

I can't find anything on the Pro Bolt Solution ?

  4. I used to have 1098S and got set of Dzus fasteners from Curvy Girl. Quick delivery and a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon to modify the fairing and fit it. I can highly recommend it. It was by far one of the best/most practical mods I did.

  5. Did you get them from the USA ?

Kurvygirl ships international I got some Woodcraft resevoir mounts from her, shipped fast and very easy to communicate with. I'd have no worries about ordering apart from the possibility of these robbin' twats Parcel Force demanding a handling fee if a customs charge is involved.

Kurvygirl was also advertizing on the Bay of Sleez for a while too, no clue if she still does.

  7. Fastmonkey - yes, I did. As said above - you have to factor in the cost of VAT and import duty but it's 100% safe, quick delivery, everything as described, clearly written manual/guidelines if you need it and a couple of stickers for your toolbox :)

  8. Duty applies to purchases over £130 IIRC.
You will get bummed for VAT and a £8 handling fee from the Post Office.
This is to fund the lazy tossers tea bags, as they sit on it for 3 f'ing weeks!
