996 slugish starting

  1. I have been slightly concerned about sluggish starting on my bike. I read thro some threads last night on the topic.

Today I disconnected all the battery and starting leads. Cleaned them up and refitted them with the nuts much tighter than they were. BOY what a difference I only need to touch the button and away it goes.
1 hour job well worth doing. :upyeah:

  2. Fit heavier duty cables and it'll be even better...

  3. Yes I also read the threads on cable size but whilst it is OK now I will leave well alone:upyeah: Thanks for the heads up tho Regards Ken.

  4. bigger cables are well worth it
will save wear on your starter sprag (which is costly to replace)

  5. Yes Ken, its sounds silly but ensuring that the battery terminals are clean and tight makes a vast difference as ive had the exact same experience.
I intend to beef up the wiring when she goes off to Nelly's next year..
