  6. whilst you're at it ab I think I'd be whipping of that nasty tank pad too..... oh and we don't need privacy glass do we, a clear screen's much nicer.... you might see through it too... as for the frame plugs...

  7. ooh! it's all shiny and red! :upyeah:...I'm thinking a mp seat unit would set that off a treat abduc....

  8. Got single seat with bike just need to fit it When I lift the bike Need a back tyre any ideas

  9. The last tyres I bought for my last 998 about three years ago were Pirelli Diablo Corsa III's. They were hard compound in the centre with nice sticky stuff on the edges. They wore very well I remember. They were a splendid dual compound and stuck to the road like shit to a blanket. But I expect tyres have moved on a bit in the three years since I bought them for my last bike. I think there's a tyre section on here?...

The tyres I've got on my latest 998s (which I bought a couple of months ago) are Pirelli Dragon Super Corsa Pro's. Don't know what they are exactly 'coz I haven't looked them up yet, but they feel bloody sticky!

Ahh! No wonder my Pirelli Dragons feel sticky! I've just looked them up and they are dry trackday and competition tyres! hahahaha! not recommended for wet and wintery roads! Good job I looked really....

  10. the tyres ive used in terms of grip have been racetecs K1 front, k2 rear, but you can smoke them off in a month....i was on my second rear in 4 weeks...worth it though...but the best road tyre ive ever used as an all rounder is the Michelin Power Pure...almost as grippy as the Racetec on the sides but much better mileage in the centre..the hard braking obviously isnt quite as good, but thats really splitting hairs. I dont know if tyre technology has moved on much from these, but these will be what im sticking on next summer.

  11. Is it a 180 or 190 rear tyre. 180 turns better. More agile. I find tyres are a bit subjective. Funks loves the Michelins but I couldn't get along with them. I like the supercorsas and Pirelli usually build a tyre I can get on with. As do Dunlop. Although I preferred Mich's on my T595 and my Kat preferred Metz, especially on the front. Would shake it head otherwise. As if in disgust. Tyres are one of those personal choice things. Ive still not got over the demise of the 207rr...on a 180 rear, bike would glide round a tight one. Going to put the Sportsmart Dunnies on 916 next. Hope they're ok. Or maybe the D212....

  12. Don't no what size it is yet. Lift the bike next Friday , a ferry ride Belfast ,Carnrian and then 400mile and then back all in 1 day. There is 24hours in the day? Can't wait. Then back to work Saturday Gdansk poland

  13. hahaha! you bloody hero Sir!:upyeah: I got my first 998 about five years ago from Liverpool. Went up there on the train in my leathers then rode back down to near Windsor - I'd been off a bike for close to six years after a big off and only ridden a bike for about 8 miles on a test ride. Total in the day was close to 220 miles and I felt pretty pleased with myself - but YOU! 400 miles on a new bike which is obviously made for the miles, as we all know?!?! My hat's off to you Sir!....

  14. fair play to both of you...when i bought Bella the Bitch i'd just moved up north from London, but I had to ride her back here from near Brighton...i was virtually crippled and frozen when i got home...it wasnt a particularly cold day, it was that i couldnt move around on the bike so i had no circulation....
I had to stop at most of the services on the way back to stretch my legs...then i got people stopping and chatting to me about Carl Fogarty.

  15. I bought Daisy from Upminster. But during a thunderstorm. It absolutely fucked it down and the wind was horizontal. I was shitting myself riding her home on M25. Only 50miles or so but shit...400miles is a bastard

    The bitches make you suffer.

  16. yeah booty..the scariest ride was the one the other week when i brought that Tric back home....sheer hell from start to finish.

  17. it's these rear set thingies that I don't like....oh and the bloody handlebars that are too far away and low down - I'm only a short bastard (can't touch the floor on a Multistrada!) but the bloody rears sets make Veronica a bit of a struggle - I'm finding I have to stand up to get my second leg on the peg without wobbling all over the place! hahaha ...and as for being able to reach the handlebars....well....

  18. When I'm in Poland working we regularly do 350 400km on a run and that's on the 750ss ie so the trip to gdansk in May will be 1200km Belfast - Stranraer hull - Rotterdam Germany (autobahn ) no speed limit then Poland . Can't wait .

  19. Cheers boys take it on board

  20. I bought my first Duke (748) on 18th May 1998 from Paris. Got Eurostar to G du N, metro to shop in North Paris. Owner insisted on taking me out to lunch...then I rode it home via Calais but there were no ferries so had to go back to Boulougne and get the SeaCat.
got stopped by fuzz outside Dover for speeding..considered feigning Frenchness but thought better of it. They let me off.
Long day but well worth it!

    Have fun!

    R
