I know this year was a bit of a washout which no one can control. However my little moan is that as much as I like seeing the top few riders there seemed very little about any other riders. I wanted to know how guys were doing lower down the field. You know those guys who dont have a bottomless pit of money.
Yeah, Poor coverage is better than no coverage, but you'd think there was only 10 riders competing, 24hrs late too. I listened to the races on the radio when they were on and caught bits of the highlights on the tv later....much later.
At least it gets some coverage, the only thing that you can hope is that if we watch it more coverage will happen year on year.
I know one of the non top riders and he actually got a few mentions but agreed they could cut down on the tennis and give us a bit more coverage.. Must be quite hard to put the program together with the schedule constantly changing I guess
love the super slo mo, but the trouble with the TT the course is so long so needs millions of cameras, as the bikes flash past any given point they dont return for half hour !
Im not saying the coverage was bad and of course its good to have it on TV, but just a little time maybe 10 mins per night following a different privateer.
Problem being, tennis is like snooker to cover (a load of balls) relatively cheap and easy. Stick a few cameras here and there and Bob's your .... Saturate the airwaves and convince everyone that that's what we really want to watch. Absolute rot. The TT is fantastic and everyone knows it but it must cost a small fortune to cover, helicopters, loads of cameras everywhere, logistical headache and all. Be thankful, I am.
