So my friends decided we are going on a Germany trip next year. I have a 748 track bike and a 900 monster (99). I decided the monster wouldn't make it/keep up and the 748 in road trim is the most uncomfortable thing I've ever had between my legs... so thought I'd treat my self to the most modern thing I've ever owned - this 1098 StreetFighter. As you can see it has plenty of nice bits on it etc. Worst time of the year to buy one as all I really want to do is ride it but i'm waiting until all the salt and crap removes it's self from the road. On the plus its a good time of year as far as price goes! Does anyone have any advice for riding one of these things along way?! New handle bars etc? Cheers Ed.
Hello and welcome Put Rizoma bars on my 848 and have since ridden Italy and back Awesome bikes unless you want to sit on the motorway over 90 for any length of time !!
Hello and welcome. No advice on the StreetFighter - looks a beast though. Your 748 Avatar looks tidy
Cheers guys. I cany wait to ride it in the dry! I have had a look at other topics and it appears the Rizoma bars are the popular choice, are these Italian or something? Why does no one fit Renthal etc. Cheers for the compliment about the 748, it is my pride and joy with magnesium wheel and carbon air box etc.. I'm having an office built and when it's complete it will live in there so I can admire it all day, will I ever get any work done! El Toro - Alright Trigger!
Welcome to the forum fella I was told many years ago by a wizened old sage about how to avoid discomfort on a long run. He said this: Pull away on your motorcycle and accelerate hard. Keep accelerating while feeding it gears. Keep going til you start shaking with fear, the road is flashing by and the cars have suddenly gone into reverse, surely this is madness, surely I will die..? Then back off by 5mph - this is your cruising speed. Trust me, you won't even think of the discomfort...
yes it is easier to go back and pick up the stuff that's dropped off when your not on a motorway :frown:
I have the same bike so that immediately tells me that you're a man of fine tastes and waspy charm. Long distances on a SF? Good earplugs and stay below 90
Haha! Thank you, you are correct fine sir! Does anyone have any experience with putting the Ducati Screen on a SF? Just thought it might offer that little bit of cover on a long run? I appreciate screens look a bit poo!
