Can I stick some Brembo RCS cylinders on to a 749? Apart from making my wallet empty, what else would it do? If there a specific model I would need? I didn't really understand the catalogue. I'm choosing between some really lovely looking Brembo cylinders & levers or a set of rizoma levers. I think I would prefer the Brembos but I don't know what I need to go for. Any help would be much appreciated! Thomas
yes you can. Obviously you would need a remote reservoir fitted too As an initial step you could turn the existing master cylinders into using remote reservoirs i did this with my 999 gets rid of the coffin shaped crap reservoirs and you are then ready to get whichever master cylinder you want…. Ducati sizes are the same for the clutch 16 bore 18 ratio, and you can then choose what feel brake you want with either 19 x 20 or 19 x 18….. the fact the levers are rcs are either or….
I fitted Brembo RCS master cylinders to my 848Evo and loved them, they made such a difference to the clutch (Also fitted an Oberon slave cylinder at the same time) and brakes - They gave much more feel and made the rather vicious Brembo M4 calipers much more manageable (meaning the risk of me going over the bars was reduced!) For the reservoirs, i bought some Motocorse items which are specifically made for the Brembo RCS system - Not cheap (i found them in Europe for 400Euros a set - both clutch and brake), but boy do they look good! pictures below:
Managed to pick up a Brembo RCS 16 x16-18 Master Cylinder from eBay for £201.58 including delivery. Cheapest I could see brand new. Now to find a cheap brake master and to decide on remote reservoirs. Whats with this racing tube ones? Are they no good for the road?
Just be careful when buying cheap Brembo master cylinders. There are a lot of counterfeit items being sold.
can't find my picture but i know i adapted the 998 stuff,….. bracket, hose clips and reservoirs….they are available from mode performance at silverstone as individual items….
Argonaut, What did you do to remove the "locating pin" in the clip-on that positions the original system? On my 748 I just filed it off; but was wondering if there is a more elegant method... I tried to see if it would unscrew but no joy... Thanks, Bob
I did the remote reservoir mod and I must say it is a huge improvement both aesthetically and functionally. I was looking at going down the RCS master route and was considering Accossato masters also. I have ridden an 848 with them on and the brakes were amazing so I am keen to know how different the brakes feel when you get them fitted.
Hi, I did away with the OEM clip-ons completely and fitted Lightech items, which are much better. They didn't need the locating pin, so i was just very careful when it came to aligning both clip-ons properly. The pin should pull-out, it's a separate part and even comes with it's own part number on the 848Evo - 462.4.001.1A
