I'm concerned that the 996sps 50mm race system I have just fitted to my 748R is likely to exceed some track noise limits and after a quick search came up with db killers from Desmoworld. Any experience here on either the product or the company ? Thanks, Andy
fwiw you might be ok 998s open 50mm termis was only 98db at brands last year!! was v suprised indeed NB closed clutch cover tho
My 853 (748sp based) nearly failed a drive by at Brands. That was a 45/50mm half system and measured 105db down the start/finish straight from the pit wall. First time I fired it up in the garages heads kept popping round the wall to find out what was making the noise. I should be ready to fire the 748R up at the weekend so I'll keep my fingers crossed. Mark Hill of MHP exhausts can certainly help if you have no joy. He did some DB killers for my 748R. He does an adjustable baffle that will get noise level down substantially if you need it. My 748R without DB killers and a 45mm exhaust is 105db so I have to mostly fit them to do a track day. MHP Exhaust
I have a 50 on my 916. Its not as loud as the slash cuts only on my 1198 and that was 105dB at Odiham. Just. Trouble with db killers for me was that I could not hear the engine as normal. It was then I realised how much attention I pay to the note of my engine to determine my gear and speed. Once i took them out and passed the test, i lapped better and effed up fewer gear changes and was correctly geared for the bends. Funny what you get used to.
^^^ Very true I cannot use ear plugs for the same reason. I can't hear the bike properly and find it very distracting with them in my ears.
