Rear tyre eating number plate!

  1. Hello,

Recently my back tyre has developed a taste for number plate! The plates have been mounted on the Project-R numberplate holder which was on the bike when i bought it, i've made some reinforcements to the number plate bracket to try and eliminate the vibration which i think, when timed with the rear shock compressing, was allowing the plate to get near the tyre but it still begs the question... How did this start to happen in the first place? I'd had the bike a good 18 months when it first occurred.

Could it be that the rear shock is leaking and causing the bike to sag at the back? I can't see any obvious signs, if anyone has any suggestions as to the cause and how i can investigate it i would appreciate any pointers!

    Thanks in advance

    Tom

  2. been eating a lot of pies lately??

  3. ...Just the normal amount!

  4. My 999 chewed one up as well. Plate was too vertical. Also if you're getting close to chain adjustment limit that would make a difference too.

  5. It's got a pretty new chain on it and the numberplate bracket has been bent back a little to a shallower angle too. It seems to me that shouldn't really be necessary though if there isn't a wider issue...

  6. I had one of those plate holders..... it didnt last long and snapped.

You may have broken yours, have a close inspection by rocking the plate.
