B&B Normandy

  1. In august I'm off to see some friends near Limoges and fancy stopping off in Normandy anyone got any B&B recommendations maybe around Caen?

  2. A few years ago we stopped at a B&B run by Mrs and Colonel Chilcott in Les Hogues, Bayeux.

Lovely old place, really nice couple - its only about 25 mins or so ride from Caen and a 20 min walk into Bayeux for a meal.

    Google them, good reviews.

  3. I have stayed in a few places throughout Normandy over the years. It depends on how much you want to pay. I once stayed in a place on the road from Caen to Lissieux and it cost £20 for the night + breakfast and that was 2 of us. I would recomend "La Glycine" in Benouville (Pegasus Bridge) and "La Phare" in Ouisterham

  4. Can wholeheartedly recommend the Normandy Beach B&B in Arromanche. One of the D-Day beaches just to the north of Bayeux and thus really near Caen and the Ouistreham ferry terminal. Run by lovely people, offstreet parking, great breakfasts and lovely rooms. The English lady who runs it is really marvellous.

  5. Stayed there 4 weeks ago when at the end of a 2 week trip to the alps - fantastic and very welcoming , free beer as well , and central to all the beaches etc

  6. We stopped at Colleville sur mer a couple of months ago. Its just off Omaha beach and next to the American cemetery. Fabulous place steeped in WW2 history, amazing beach thats way less crowded than any english beach. We stopped at le ferme du lucel, excellent accomodation and very friendly host. We shall be returning next year! Loads to see every day, point du hoc, maisy battery (excellent) etc.
