Custom ECU mapping?

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Hutch, Feb 24, 2014.

  1. Hi all,

I'm looking at getting some dyno time & a custom map applied to my 848... Currently running a full open system, BMC filter & a DP ECU that the brilliant ChrisW did for me.... current map runs the bike fine but with the new air filter going in last week I want to be sure she is optimal...

Me being in the midlands the obvious choice would be JHP Cov... But I'm hearing a lot of love for Louigi moto Bristol.

Spoke with both & it all sounds good, around 4 - 5 hundred...

Anyone have work done by either? Or any other ideas?

    Cheers

  2. Lots of guys have used CJS in Bristol who, I believe, is closely associated with Louigi moto. I'm sure they will chime in with their comments.

  3. Nelly at Cornerspeed in Nottingham has a full dyno and mapping capabilities.

  4. I'm in Birmingham too, and I only ever use Louigi Moto / CJS Racing in Bristol. You're actually a customer to them rather than a name in a book. They've managed to squeeze over 150BHP out of my 996 so they know how to build an engine too. Can't recommend them enough. It's something like £425 for a full custom map and it's that time of year all good bike places are getting busy so call soon to book rather than popping down on spec.

  5. I had my S1k done at Hilltop Motorcycles - great results on paper but yet to try on track, +10bhp (205) at rear wheel but an amazing +45bhp at 10k revs, probably more to do with a poor PCV base map than an unbelievable reflash.
Geoff was very knowledgable and I would recommend giving him a call. Maybe he can do Ducati's maybe not, but a great guy who will do you no wrong.

    Regards
    Davy

  6. CJS without a doubt +1 on the above. He works in a part of the workshop that Louigi Moto uses. There is accomodation up the road if you need to stay over. The Hunter's Rest.

  7. Guys thanks for the recommendations... thinks ill go Louigi - CJS... Ive so many now saying how good they are... Time to hire a van & get er did...

  8. As mentioned very nice old coaching in pub with accommodation just literally up the road from CJS, worth staying there if you have a long drive. CJS is a bit hard to find on the industrial estate so get directions on how to find it before you go.

There's a Cider brewer\wholesaler on the same site if you like that sort of thing, nice and cheap!!

  9. If you're planning a trip to Louigi soon send me a message. I've got to rent a van myself to collect my bike so we could share the costs of it all if you're interested.

  10. Cheers bud & thanks for the offer.... I just need to scrape the funds together, shouldnt take that long though... I'll let you know once its sorted.

When (roughly) were you looking at going to collect?

  11. Well I'm ready really. Like yourself, money and time are all I lack.
I know Chris at CJS who does the dyno work doesn't work everyday and is busy when he does, so give him a call first and get a plan as to when he can fit you in and how long he expects to need it. I normally just drop my bike off and say fit it in as and when so don't even know if it's a ride in ride out service or what. I'll PM you his mobile number.

  12. Hutch,

Please let me know how you get on; I'm keen to do the same on my 2010 non evo 848. Also midlands based, and about as close to bristol as coventry (JHP currently my preferred dealer as I've only ever had good dealings with them)

I've got a full termi system on, and running the ECU that came with them... keen to get as much out of the bike as possible, but mainly want a torquey bottom end rather than high hp...

    Cheers,
    Bob
