Standard Immobiliser on the Mutley, what is it?

  1. Hi,

Just posted on my other thread:-

"Im getting shocking insurance quotes suddenly and I dont know why. 0 NCB due to no recent bike doesnt help but im old and civilised and have had my license for a number of years.

Can anyone tell me - on the Mutley - what is the factory option immobiliser? Ive seen DataGuard or DataTool stickers on the bike - what option do I select when shopping for quotes?

I have a garage which brings the price down - problem is - nearly impossible to get a bike in due to the way a smaller door inside has been built. I could remove this - but its a rented place - would need to agree with the owners. I also stay in London which complicates things a bit.

  2. I listed it as the ducati security system, just renewed mine with Bikesure and ended up having to speak to them as some dates changed after entering details on the meer kats site, they went through all the details and were happy with that description.

  3. "Factory Fitted Immobiliser"

  4. Is there a DataTool system - Im sure ive seen stickers near the front of the bike that shows some kinda of a tag.

  5. They all come with an imobiliser built in but the optional dealer fit system is the Ducati Security System which is just an alarm.
When I bought mine I had this fitted (back then the rrp was around £200) because for me it lowered my insurance by about £500. I wouldn't have bothered with an alarm system other than for the fact that it saved me loads in first year of ownership due to having little ncb at the time. I don't like alarm systems in general but this one has been trouble free. - Touch wood. (ooer).

Try getting a quote from Ducati Insurance - they were cheapest in my first year and they happen to be staffed by nice people.

  6. Ok, putting the bike in the garage is the best option. Does anyone know the width of the Mutley at its widest (assume panniers are removed)?

  7. Ok, nevermind - found something on the Ducati site.

/me takes out the measuring tape.

  8. Ok, it wont go into the garage through the 'false' door that we have but it may fit in the space between the 'decorated' and undecorated garage. Will move the partition if we needed to.

  9. I had to explain more than once that I didn't know Luigi's surname who fitted the immobiliser at the Ducati factory, they believed me in the end.
