very true. my bat senescence think its been landed somewhere and is being loaded up with a dirty bomb.
It's definitely a bit weird, I heard 26 countries are involved now. You would think someone would have known where it's disappeared off to and said something.
There was a witty comment from Clarkson re the news item of someone's penis being cut off and an A road was shut whilst it was being looked for. He said if twenty plus countries with the best surveillance equipment cannot find a 777 what chance does Plod on foot have of finding a gentleman sausage. I (dis)like the conspiracy theories re dirty bombs etc, but suspect it has hit the water and sunk to the bottom.
Would if have reached Iran?.......Seems so, which also means it could be in Pakistan........They are the most likely if I'm having a bet.
I'm hoping the original passengers have been dropped off somewhere, all safe & well. Meanwhile the plane is busy picking up Lord Lucan & Shergar......
If it had been hijacked, surely one of the passengers would have had an opportunity to make a sneaky phone call or a text or something? I fear its on the seabed somewhere.
It does seem very hard to believe that there was no record of any identifiable large aircraft flying over wherever for several hours. It would be kind of ironic if the Chinese shot it down but it would certainly have been an easy target and alerted air defenses. So why did the flightcrew turn off the planes transponder? Was he trying to sneak off somewhere to make a political point about the ex. PM being jailed? Were they acting under threat? Let's hope that they landed the plane somewhere and not in the sea. But it's a huge aircraft to land and not be noticed.
I tend to agree with Fin. To deliver a nuke it needs to be an air burst. If you cant deliver it by bomb or missile, an aircraft would be perfect. This is the Tom Clancy in me. If its Al Queda it will detonate over some place the Americans would get rather irate about. If its a roque western agency, then it will burst over Mecca during the haj or whatever its called. Both will be a disastrous yet riveting novel to read whilst flying somewhere. I suspect though, theres been a mishap and its at the bottom of the sea.
im not entirely sure there is anyone as inept as the Ukranians when it comes to accidentally shooting down airliners. They shot down one with a stray ground to air missile in 2001
They found the wings. I think the conversation went, "Mr & Mrs Wing, where is the rest of the plane?"
The black box only lasts so long for signal output and I assume you cannot turn that off. If time runs out and it's in the sea it will never be found I would imagine. In fact just found this on a Hong Kong site, could be tricky to find. "The battery life of the locator lasts 30 days. If they cannot find it within this window, it will become very hard to locate," said Professor Alan Lau Kin-tak, of Hong Kong Polytechnic University's engineering department. No signal was received from the Malaysian plane's emergency locator transmitter, which is designed to emit distress signals from a plane after an accident. It has a lifespan of 24 hours.
