Quickshifter advice

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Robarano, Mar 19, 2014.

  1. I've decided that I want a quickshifter on my Streetfighter S.

I know sod all about them and some advice would be helpful.

I've seen them advertised from HM and Bazzaz. Strain gauge seems to be the way to go too.

    Anybody?

  2. You have to consider fuel cut or spark cut... the spark cut tend to pop from time to time on gear change as the bike is still being fed fuel

  3. HM is the best. Apparently. I have the ducati OEM one on my 1198 and its good fun, but a tad crude. I'm saving up for an HM one.

The pop is the best bit. Its more like the crack of a whip during a gear change. I love it.

  4. Think the S1000RR that handed me my arse at the weekend had one, judging by the popping it was making!
    Sounds cool...

  5. My mate has an S1000RR. It makes 200+bhp. Fucking thing is insane. However he cant go round corners. Hes a thruppeny bitter. His woos lines are legendary.

  6. Eh?

  7. eh what?

  8. Was that English, is what ?

  9. thruppenny bit...

  10. I don't get this southern rhyming stuff. Can you speak proper England wot like us northerners does.

  11. note how the coin is a polygon of faceted sides...

  12. Where I live, a thruppeny bit(s) is slang for a ladies fun bag(s). :p Are we piping to the same tune?

Not that it matters, I still have no clue what you are on about.

  13. Here's me thinking you had the Thrupenny bits after an bad Jalfreizi? But yeah tits works too...

Hmm.. You also get pop bang after a bad Jalfreizi.. Seamless & yeah you're welcome..

  14. What my learned southern colleague is trying to explain is that the BMW rider of his aquaintance is unable to traverse a constant radius on his motorcycle smoothly. Or more plainly put he's fine in straight lines but can't do bends for a toffee. :D. Andy

  15. Ah right, thanks for the translation Andy. :)

  16. This thread has went off onto a bit of a tangent. Quickshifter advice anyone?

  17. you could look at cordona PQ8 quickshifters which are very very good, but you will prob need someone like BSD in peterbourough install it for you which will add to the cost. i know a few people who have these on different bikes and they all sing its praises
if i was in the market now i would save my pennies and get a cordona

the HM is a good bit of kit. particularly the HM+ as it has a more sophisticated ignition controller, only downside is that this is road shift only
the race shift lever version is still very, good its tried and tested and very usable ( i have this on my 998 track bike) but it does pop a bit

HM are pretty much plug and play although imho, its worth having someone set it up for you as i have seen a few 1098 with QS destroy 4th gear on track likely due to poor setup!

  18. Might be worth a PM to arthurbikemad on here, he knows a thing or two about Qshifters and has helped out in the past
